Mission Statement

The rationale for the AIDS Drug Assistance Protocol Fund is detailed in A Proposal to Reduce Deaths
on State ADAP Waiting Lists

The mission of the AIDS Drug Assistance Protocol Fund is to facilitate access to HIV and HCV drugs
to the medically indigent that are enrolled in US state AIDS Drug Assistance Program waiting lists until
they are covered by applicable pharmaceutical manufacturer's patient assistance programs, AIDS Drug
Assistance Program, or other payor.

This mission will be accomplished by

  • Educating corporations and individuals on the ethical challenges of sharing with
government the responsibility for providing access to life-extending drugs for the US
    medically indigent with HIV disease.

  • Developing private funding resources for state ADAP programs to provide emergency drugs
for people on state ADAP waiting lists that are prioritized according to proposed voluntary
    national guidelines.

  • Developing  private funding resources for state high-risk insurance pools to provide
insurance for people with HIV disease.

  • Developing private funding resources for case management and related studies of people on
state ADAP waiting lists to determine eligibility for other benefit sources and the impact of
waiting list dynamics on health status.

  • Developing private funding resources for physician volunteer services to rural US communities
without access to HIV medical care to monitor patients with HIV and write prescriptions.

  • Serving as a patient advocate to facilitate continuous coverage from a patient's current payor to a
state ADAP plan to prevent any interruption of access to antiretroviral drugs and other necessary
    care.

The "AIDS Drug Assistance Protocol"

The "AIDS Drug Assistance Protocol" referred to in the title of the AIDS Drug Assistance Protocol Fund
is the acceptance of our responsibility to do everything possible to provide access to timely and
appropriate care for the US medically indigent with HIV disease.

Administration Fund

Administrative expenses are paid out of the AIDS Drug Assistance Protocol Fund Administration Fund
which is supported through membership dues and revenues from special projects such as research,
